Summary:
This follows the events of the suicide of Conrad Roy III that happened in 2014 along with the lead up to Michelle Carters guilty verdict in 2017. Along with serving a sentence of 11 out of 15 months.
In 2012, while on a trip to Florida, Conrad Roy III was visiting family. It was on this trip that he was introduced to the teen girl that would be his downfall just two years later, Michelle Carter. While on this trip they hit it off with silly word games and just hanging out with the other.
Over the course of 2 years, the viewer gets to see what life was like before and after the death of Conrad. What Michelles exact involvement in the assisted suicide of Conrad. And what life was like leading up to the trial and sentencing.
Thoughts:
I thought that this show gave a good inside of what happened during this time. Even if everything is not 100% correct. They do say that at the beginning of every episode that there were things that were changed.
I think that this show does a good idea of what someone who has suicidal thoughts goes through on a daily basis. Even though it looks different for everyone I believe that all the signs for things like depression, anxiety, etc look the same.
I think with who they casted to played these real life people was excellent. I enjoyed the casting of Elle Fanning and Colton Ryan (who play Michelle Carter and Conrad Roy III). They did a really fantastic job at portraying these two people. I think the others were just as great but I have to give it to Elle and Colton for being the face of this show.
Worth The Watch:
I think it is worth the watch. But only if you are in a good head space and arent easily triggered by the content warnings that I placed up above. They do put at the beginning of every episode of a way to reach out if you are struggling (or know someone who is struggling). This show does deal with heavy topics, with suicide being the main one.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU CHOSE TO WATCH THIS IF YOU ARE EASILY TRIGGERED OR NOT IN THE BEST HEAD SPACE.
*You should know that I do NOT rate true crime shows. All I do is try and bring awareness like what happen to Conrad Roy III.*
